SecureRecovery for Exchange Server is one of the most powerful utilities available for email database repair and data recovery. It can safely and effectively recover emails in most circumstances.
To determine whether this software will work for you, download the free demo. The demo output will provide you with a list of recoverable items, and you can decide whether to purchase the full version. Remember to back up your Exchange Server email databases before attempting to use either the full version or the demo version of SecureRecovery for Exchange Server.
Yes. The demo version will only recover a few messages per mailbox, leaving the other messages blank. It will not recover any file attachments. The full version of SecureRecovery for Exchange Server can recover all of the email messages and attachments shown in the demo output.
If a folder or another object is completely lost, it will not appear in the demo output. This means that it is not recoverable with the full version of the software.
Exchange Server email databases are very large, and data recovery requires time and resources. The exact time for each recovery will vary depending on the original email database corruption range, along with the CPU and RAM of the computer. In order to process larger files, SecureRecovery for Exchange Server may require hours or even days.
We recommend running the utility in a logged mode, which will allow you to monitor the status of the process through a log file. If the log updates constantly, the file is being processed, and you should not interrupt the recovery procedure. However, if there is no activity for more than 5-10 minutes, the software may be caught in a loop. If this occurs, please contact our technical support team for additional instructions.
Create a log file by holding the SHIFT key while clicking the “Recover” button on the application toolbar or selecting the Recover: item in the main menu. You can also press CTRL+SHIFT+R after launching the program
Depending on the type of Exchange Server database, the recovery results may be stored in several different ways.
If you are recovering personal mailboxes, SecureRecovery for Exchange Server creates several folders -- one per mail user -- and stores the personal mail in a standard .PST file. However, if the recovered .PST file exceeds the 1.5 gigabyte limit, it will be split into independent .PST files named subsequently (for example, admin.pst, admin1.pst, admin2.pst and so on).
If an Exchange Server database with public folders is recovered, SecureRecovery for Exchange Server recreates the entire database hierarchy folder structure in the \M\ folder. The recovered items from the public folders are saved as standard .MSG files.
In order to import data from .PST files, you will need to use the free Exmerge utility, offered by Microsoft.
In order to move data from the ‘M’ folder to the Public Directory, take the following steps: first, connect to any of the Exchange Server mailboxes using Microsoft Outlook. When you have connected, you will get access to the public folders. Drag and drop items from the ‘M’ folder into the appropriate public directory of the email database.
This is normal. SecureRecovery for Exchange Server will typically encounter damaged or unreadable data during the restoration process. This data is presented as blank space, so the recovered file is often smaller than the original corrupt file.
The demo version of the software does not contain attachments and uses placeholder data, and its files are therefore much smaller in size.
Yes, if you have an Enterprise or Service license. You can use the following command line call in batch files without angle brackets:
esr.exe “”
With the following patterns:
? (for individual symbols)
* (to represent groups of symbols)
Make sure that you create an output directory for the Exchange Server email database files before you run the tool with the command line. Please note that command line functionality is not available with the standard license.
